Argentine Puna
The Argentine Puna is a high-altitude region located in the northwest of the country, encompassing parts of Jujuy, Salta, Catamarca, and TucumƔn. Its climate is extremely dry, cold, and windy, with very distinctive characteristics:
High altitude: between 3,000 and 4,500 meters above sea level, which generates low atmospheric pressure and very dry air.
Extreme temperatures: warm days and very cold nights, with daily temperature ranges that can exceed 25Ā°C.
Harsh winters: frequent frosts and sub-zero temperatures for several months.
Dry and sunny summers, although isolated showers may occur between December and March.
Low rainfall: between 200 and 500 mm per year, concentrated in the summer.
Strong winds, especially in winter, with gusts that can exceed 90 km/h.
